The Crown of Rejoicing

Previously, we looked at the Crown of Life and the Crown Incorruptible; this third week we’ll study about The Crown of Rejoicing.  This is a happier crown, but one which many Christians do little to earn.

One of the greatest services a Christian can do for Christ is to share His love and the way of salvation with others.  I Thes. 4:19-20 The “you/ ye” are the people we help come to the Lord.  We can be part of the process.  As John says in 4:36-38, some Christians plant a seed of truth, others water the seed along the way with encouragement and instruction, and others are present at the time the person actually comes to a point of belief and commitment; all are participants in the reward.  It is the Holy Spirit Who convicts and saves, but we can help prevent that soul from dying. James 5:20

I Cor.15:58 assures us that this service for Christ is not in vain.  And, what happens when a person realizes that Christ saves us, “…there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10.

Call it witnessing, or sharing the gospel, however we get the message to others can be a little scary.  But, here are some things that will help us.  Let your light and your life shine for Jesus.  Eph. 5:8 and II Cor. 3:2. You’ve heard it said that actions do speak louder than words, and people do look at us and judge our reaction to circumstances.  People “read” us.  Jesus tells us plainly in Acts 1:8 that we shall be His witnesses.  What we say, what we do, what we write are an endorsement of what we believe.

Finally, we can give to missions.  I can hear it now, money!  We have so much compared to most of the world.  This summer I met a lady who serves as a missionary to some tribal mountain people in Kenya.  At my age, I can’t imagine myself doing what she does, but I can give from my finances to her, and to other missionaries, and through the church’s missions appeal.  I can’t go there, but I can give.  Lest you think giving money allows you “off the hook,” NO!  Christ says, “as you are going…” Where do you go?  The dry cleaners, the grocery store, the dog park, yes even the bank, share the love of Jesus by word and deed, and your reward, in the end, will be the Crown of Rejoicing.
